Human Excellence - Section 7

Conclusion and Next Steps

Your Power of Creation

You have the power to create lifetime happiness for yourself and others.

It really is as simple as trying to do the right thing.

Continuous effort to do the right thing

will make you a good person,

an Excellent Human Being.

Sometimes it seems as if your actions are insignificant.

However, just like it requires every single atom to create the physical world,

every moral action is required to create the moral world.

Just as no atoms are more or less important than any others

no moral actions are more or less important than any others.

Every moral action is a building block of the moral world,

and each and every action matters.

There is an equality in our individual existence,

in that every human being can equally claim I am.

“I am only one, but still I am one.

I cannot do everything, but I can do something.

Because I cannot do everything

I will not refuse to do something I can do.”

(Helen Keller)

You matter

Every moral decision you make matters.

You create the moral world, and make it good or bad,

and as a result of this creation,

you create happiness and flourishing,

or sadness and decline.

But, together, you and I can make a difference,

we can create a better world, a great world,

were all of us can flourish and be happy.

It simply requires one good moral action at a time,

one by you

and one by me.

The Possibilities

Consider the last two hundred years

and the effort and resources put into the two world wars,

dozens of smaller wars,

the genocides and oppression of dictatorships, and ‘isms’

such as communism, fascism, racism, sexism, etc.

Think not only of the money spent on the destruction,

but the military budgets spent over the years in reaction to these wars.

Think about the time and effort, ingenuity, thoughts, and hard work

of all the different people involved

and the earth's resources used and destroyed.

Think of all the suffering, lives lost, hopelessness and despair.

Imagine what the last two centuries could have been like

if all the human effort, thought, work,

and all the earth’s resources

that were used on wars, violence and oppression

were instead used for the betterment of humanity.

Imagine if all the human moral creation

used for these large scale, bad, immoral actions,

had been used for the creation of good.

What would the world be like today?

I am

It matters what you do.

Every moral decision you make is an act of creation.

Collectively, each of our moral decisions

are the atoms of the moral world we create.

If you consistently make good moral decisions,

you will get into the habit of making good moral decisions,

others will follow your lead,

and we will create a good world,

full of happiness and flourishing for all humans.

Leadership

The next course on this webpage which you should go through is on Leadership.

You are a leader.

First, because you lead your own life.

You must make your own decisions regarding how to act.

Second, because those around you

observe your actions,

as you observe the actions of others around you.

What we are observing

is the social and moral world we create,

the world we live in.

To survive and prosper we must adapt to this world,

and so we lead and follow each other

in the dance of moral and social creation.

Your and my actions

speak louder than any of our words in this creation process.

Every person is at times a leader and a follower.

Please join me in the next course on Leadership.
